Menstrual cups are safe and sustainable – but they can be tricky for first-time users, our new study shows
We surveyed 530 young Australians who had ever used a menstrual cup. Our findings showed that users experience more difficulty than reported in clinical trials, and is consistent with other research that reports cup use improves over time.
Menstrual cups: Real-world use and acceptability
Clinical trials have shown menstrual cups to be safe and effective. Until now no studies have investigated their performance in real-world use. Our study of 530 young Australian describes the acceptability and functionality of menstrual cups and investigated the role of product knowledge.
